Foundation of the CIDeC Zétesis

Every project, dream or goal has a starting point, and often those beginnings are marked by challenges and obstacles. However, what is really important is to move forward with determination, taking firm steps, even if they are small. Under this premise, the Zétesis Scientific Research and Development Center is the result of the efforts of young visionaries, driven by ideals and innovative proposals.

Our director, Jorge Cedeño, is a young and creative leader, with an innovative vision that drives scientific development. On 11 August 2024, he presented us with a bold proposal, initially shared with me, Víctor Armijos, together with Jorge Santillán, Esmeralda Intriago, Abner Chica and Roger Maza. Eventually, Omar Alsaid joined our team, forming a multidisciplinary group of professionals committed to strengthening scientific research in Ecuador.

The proposal was clear and ambitious: knowledge and innovation are fundamental pillars for the development of any nation. But a crucial question arose: how could a group of young professionals promote independent research in Ecuador? The answer was not long in coming. The key lay in the creation of a scientific knowledge network that would promote independent research, not only as a tool for intellectual exploration, but also as an engine of change capable of transforming society and contributing to the country's progress. Thus was born a project whose main objective is to challenge the limits of conventional thinking and open new frontiers in the world of science.

It has taken us approximately 7 months to lay the foundations of the center, defining our short, medium and long term objectives, analysing our strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats, and with that clarity, we managed to transform an idea into what is today the Zétesis Scientific Research and Development Center.

We know that the road ahead will be full of many obstacles, however, we are confident in the firmness and commitment of our team to move forward with this project. As they say, the hardest thing to do is to start, to take that first step, but once taken, the doors begin to open and with them the opportunities.

As the great Carl Sagan would say: ‘Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be discovered’.

At the Zétesis Scientific Research and Development Center, we are ready to discover it and work for a better future.
